Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about how CareCall works, for you and for the person we call.
Getting started
A service that phones someone you care about at the times you choose, for a friendly check-in, a medication reminder or a meal check. After each call you get a short written summary by email, and an alert if they don’t answer.
Anyone who’d benefit from a regular friendly call: a parent living alone, a grandparent, a neighbour, or someone you support. Families use it alongside their own calls and visits, not instead of them.
About five minutes. You’ll need their name, phone number and where they live. You can hear the call on your own phone before it ever goes to them.
No. They just answer the phone. Any Australian mobile or landline works.
The calls
An automated voice assistant, powered by AI. It speaks naturally and warmly, but it isn’t a person, and it always says so if asked.
Usually 3 to 8 minutes. It goes at their pace and ends when they’re ready.
Yes. For each call you write what it should cover in plain words, like “ask about her garden” or “remind him to take 500 mg Metformin with dinner”. You can also leave a one-off note, like “ask how the physio went”, for the next call only.
Yes, as many as they need. For example, a morning check-in and an evening medication reminder. Each call uses minutes from your plan.
Always 0495 053 372. Save it in their phone as “CareCall” so they know who’s ringing. From your account you can print a large-print card for their fridge with their call times and this number.
By default we try again after 15 minutes. If there’s still no answer, we email you and anyone in their care circle with alerts turned on. You can change this for each call: alert straight away, or don’t alert at all.
For the person we call
Yes. On the first call it introduces itself and explains that you set it up. If they ever ask, it tells them honestly that it’s an automated assistant.
The call is flagged at the top of the summary and we email you straight away. CareCall can’t send an ambulance. If someone may be in danger, call 000.
They can end any call by saying goodbye or hanging up. If they’d rather not get calls at all, pause or remove them in your account and they stop straight away.
Calls speak slowly and clearly, and patiently repeat things. Mention any hearing or memory needs in what the call should cover, and it adapts.
Alerts and care circles
The people who hear how the calls go. Add up to five people for each person we call, and choose whether each gets summaries, alerts, or both. They don’t need an account.
By email, within a minute of the final try. You can also turn on text alerts in Settings.
Privacy and safety
Yes, so we can write the summary. The full conversation is kept for 30 days, then deleted. Summaries are kept for as long as you use CareCall. Only you and the people in the care circle can read them.
No. It’s a friendly check-in, not a monitoring or medical service. In an emergency, always call 000.
Pricing and billing
Plans start at $14.95 a month for 30 minutes, after a 14-day free trial. Call as many people as you like. Every summary and alert is included.
No. We’ll remind you 3 days before your trial ends. If you don’t subscribe, the calls stop and nothing is charged.
In Settings, go to Plan and payment and choose Cancel. Calls continue until the end of the month you’ve paid for. There are no fees.
